I’m a huge Coheed and Cambria fan… my entry into the band’s catalogue was Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Vol. 1: From fear Through the Eyes of Madness, like many… and as I delved deeper into the catalogue I connected with The Second Stage Turbine Blade. When I got my hands on Unheavenly Creatures, my first listen didn’t yield a determination as to where I felt the record placed, or ranked, within the catalogue. The second listen didn’t do it for me either… I found myself driving home from work one day with the cd playing and as I was stuck in traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge it hit me… it’s their best effort… it’s their best collection of songs and the writing is top notch. The performances, the production, well, I’m a musician and it took me over… How does this band keep topping itself?
