Lindsay Learns Guitar

You may or may not know that I attempted to learn guitar a few years ago. The friend who gave me a mini lesson taught me Green Day’s “Brain Stew,” and told me I looked good holding the guitar. That was about the extent of the lesson, and we never picked it back up again, unfortunately.

But I have decided to try again! I started taking lessons at a music school in Brooklyn that offers adult-only group classes, and we get beer at the start of every weekly lesson to loosen us up. Honestly, it’s amazing, and every class should offer beer. My teacher’s name is Rick Snell, and he’s been really awesome. Between the beginner and intermediate classes, I’ve (kinda) learned “House of the Rising Sun,” “Paint it Black,” “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and “Ring of Fire.”

Here are some photos from the Beginner Recital. (I didn’t go to the intermediate one.)

I’m gonna try to keep up with practicing and teach myself using some videos online. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve always wanted to play guitar, and the callouses on my fingers are giving me hope that one day I can say I actually know what I’m doing! Be on the lookout for a vlog sometime. I’ve been recording my progress at home, because that’ll probably be more interesting than this.
