Leftover Crack at Market Hotel

Justin and Anna were in town visiting me and I thought it’d be fun to go back to the worst venue ever, Market Hotel, to see Leftover Crack. We saw I the Mighty there two years ago and it was bad. This time it was also bad, but a different bad.

Apparently one of the bands’ vans broke down or something, but rather than the venue tell everyone with tickets that doors were getting pushed back, or just let us in and let us hang out there and drink, they just had everyone stand in the longest line EVER out in the cold, or sent us to a bar across the street to spend our money there instead of at Market Hotel. Dumb business decision, they lost a lotta money on that, I’m sure.

Anyway, so we went to the bar across the street. I was reminded how much I love Anna. We spent it all catching up.

One of my Inferno friends Tina was doing merch for one of the opening bands, Days N Daze, so we talked for a minute after we eventually made it into the venue. She’s the one who told me about the van breaking down being the reason we weren’t allowed in the venue for so long.

Cop/Out and Alexander Orange Drink were the first two openers, and we missed them. We made it to the front of the venue close-ish to the stage for Days N Daze.

Days N Daze was AWESOME. I was very impressed.

Me: “This band I’m seeing has a washboard in it. It’s awesome, I love it, but now I can’t stop thinking about how this girl has probably at some in her life said, ‘My dream is to play washboard professionally.'”

There was also this stand-up…thing? that’s actually farm equipment. I don’t remember what it’s called, but Tina told me how it broke and it was a whole ass adventure to find the RIGHT one to replace it.

I’ve had some stamina issues lately, so I didn’t think I could last in the pit all night, but Anna and Justin knew I couldn’t resist.

They were right. I couldn’t. I disappeared on them like right as Leftover Crack hit the stage.

There was a lotta circle pits. I loved ’em.

I found some Infernites, Leor and Kaya, after the show. I had talked to Leor at Hallowmas but hadn’t talked to Kaya before.

Kaya: “I recognize you from that photo!”
Me: “Oh the one when I was on top Leor’s shoulders?”
Kaya: “Also mine!”
Me: “Oh that was you!”

I love the old school punk scene, but it’s weird to me how much the fanbase overlaps with Inferno. I mean they are also technically old school punk, but it sounds SO different.
