Larry Livermore

I got to chat with Larry Livermore — the man who co-founded Lookout Records and basically helped launch Green Day, Operation Ivy, and a chunk of the East Bay punk scene. No big deal.

We talked about the early days of Gilman Street, what it was like signing bands that would go on to sell millions of records, and why he eventually walked away from the label. Larry doesn't sugarcoat anything, which I appreciate. The punk scene wasn't always pretty and he's honest about that.

This conversation was one of those moments where I had to remind myself to keep asking questions instead of just fanboying out. Lookout Records shaped so much of what I love about music.
