Sight Unscene: The Matches

So here’s a really cool thing: When you interview a band before a show, sometimes you’re able to stay for a bit afterward and watch soundcheck. And sometimes that band happens to be one of your all-time favorite bands. This happened for me and Jordan Weagley of Sight Unscene Podcast.

Kicking off the Matches’s summer 10 Years of Decomposer tour, we were able to interview frontman Shawn Harris before their Chicago show at the Metro. Here’s the full interview. Well, Jordan did the interviewing and I recorded some of it.

And then magically (major thanks to a certain wonderful manager), we were able to stay at the Metro to watch the band soundcheck. I have so much love for them and this was one of those dreams-that-shouldn’t-even-be-possible-come-true, which lately I seem to be having many of.

One time I sneezed and Billie Joe Armstrong blessed me.
