New Albums Recap: May

May was an intense month for new music, so rather than 10, here are 15 albums from this past month.

precomposerThe Matches

Precomposer

Epitaph Records

Ten years after the release of The Matches’ sophomore album Decomposer, the band finally released it on vinyl on May 31st. In addition to the vinyl release, they released a vinyl (and digital copy) of Precomposer, an album of Decomposer demos. It’s so vastly different (yet still so amazing) from the the final cut of the songs that it definitely deserves its own recognition. So far this is my album of the year. Can’t. Stop. Listening.

The first set of 500 sold out within the first 24 hours, so GET ON IT and buy the second pressing. You won’t regret it. Promise.

Also for the record, the demo of “Papercut Skin” sounds NOTHING like the video. Both amazing, but so so different.
